virtual speech therapy for children & adults who stutter that actually helps

Curious about how to work with us?

Speak freely.

Speech & Stuttering Therapy of New Jersey has been providing whole-person speech therapy and support for people who stutter since 2020. We offer holistic, evidence-based speech therapy for pre-school and school-aged children, teenagers, and adults. With us, therapy is not just about supporting you in your journey to speak easier and struggle less when stuttering. It is about increasing your self-confidence and improving your overall quality of life.

Adults, you are tired of googling “How to stop stuttering”, we have the long-term approach that you are looking for so you can go on living your life. This is not a quick fix or more “strategies” to try, this is speech therapy aimed at taking stuttering from the forefront of your life and putting it in the very background.

For parents, therapy is about decreasing your child’s struggle, reducing your worry about your child’s stutter, and helping you feel confident in supporting them. It may not feel true to you right now, but your child will be okay. Our job is to help you believe it.

We provide teletherapy for clients in New Jersey, New York, Texas, and California.

And parent coaching everywhere. 🫶🏼

Our Services

  • Evaluation

Comprehensive assessment for preschoolers, school-age kids, adolescents, and adults. Our evaluations do not just listen for stuttering. We are assessing the entire experience of the person:

    1. Is there tension and struggle?

    2. Is there frustration or decreased confidence?

    3. How is the stutter affecting the person’s life? (i.e., avoidance of speaking situations, choosing not to say what you are thinking, etc.)

  • Therapy

Speech therapy sessions address the specific needs of the person based on the evaluation results. We address both the physical (the tension & struggle) and emotional aspects of stuttering (thoughts/feelings about one’s speech, confidence & resilience in speaking situations) looking at the whole picture in order to reduce the negative impact of stuttering. Addressing both areas are necessary to create a long-lasting, positive impact.

We offer teletherapy services for NJ, NY, CA, TX

(Research shows that stuttering therapy delivered via telepractice is an effective and evidence-supported service delivery model, with outcomes directly comparable to in-person care.)

  • Parent Training

When appropriate, parents are recommended to take part in therapy sessions in order to practice techniques to facilitate their child’s ease of communication, learn how to support their speech and emotional-regulation at home, and/or gain a greater understanding of their experience with stuttering.

YOU are your child’s greatest asset!

  • Support Groups for Children, Adolescents & Adults

Be a part of a safe community that understands and catapult your progress forward. Research shows that being part of a support group helps members to “gain hope, confidence, self-esteem, and a positive outlook” and “lead to positive changes in their views about stuttering and their own acceptance of their stuttering.” (Murgallis, et. al 2015).

Using an individualized, holistic approach, we will rebuild your foundation for self-awareness and give you the confidence to say what you want to say.

What People Are Saying

We’ve been working with Speech and Stuttering Specialists of New Jersey for about a year now to address our toddler’s stuttering, and I can’t say enough good things about this practice. They have been phenomenal in guiding us through this journey with compassion, expertise, and unwavering support.

From the start, they took the time to thoroughly understand our daughter’s needs and have consistently equipped us with practical tools and strategies that we can use at home. Their approach is gentle, engaging, and perfectly suited to working with young children. Our daughter feels comfortable and even looks forward to the sessions, which speaks volumes about the positive environment they have created.

Not only have we seen significant improvements, but we also feel empowered as parents with the knowledge and skills to support our daughter. We’re so grateful to have found them and wholeheartedly recommend this team to any family navigating similar challenges.

“Victoria has been more than a speech therapist for our spunky 4 year old, she’s been a friend. Her approach of combining playful tactics with speech exercises has been so helpful, and easy to emulate in our home. Her kind energy allowed our son to be immediately comfortable. He looks forward to his appointments each week with Ms. Victoria, who he calls his “play doctor”. For my husband and I, she has been supportive, excellent at coaching us on the skills, and very available. We appreciate her very much!”

“Finding help for my son who stutters felt impossible, until I found Victoria. Her knowledge and compassion is unmatched. I drive an hour and a half each way so my son can get the best help possible. I am so proud of the progress he continues to make.  I can not say enough about how grateful I feel to have found her.”

It's been amazing working with Victoria over the past six months. As a young adult navigating how to live with my stutter has improved immensely since seeing Victoria. Our weekly sessions are based on my needs, and structured in a way that breaks down the negative/embarrassing feelings of stuttering. Victoria is supportive, pays attention to detail, and challenges me to grow. As someone who has been stuttering their whole life, I'm beyond thankful for finding Victoria and continuing to work towards better outcomes! Can't wait for our next session!

“Victoria has been a fantastic speech therapist for me over these past two years. She takes a client-focused approach and creates a philosophy tailored to each patient, depending on their own goals. She has been a leading factor in my growth as a communicator, and has helped me make great progress in my stuttering journey. I look forward to my sessions every week, and I thank Victoria for her dedication and commitment to my progress.”

I highly recommend Speech and Stuttering Therapy of NJ. My 7 year old son has been working with therapists in this office for a few years now and we are so very happy with his progress. From the very first phone conversation I had with Victoria (owner), I felt very comfortable and at ease. After years of speech therapy in other places (hospital & private), we finally found a place where the whole family could benefit from Speech Therapy.

We are so grateful for all that this practice has done for us and continues to. We received support around periods of stuttering and then pivoted to also addressing articulation issues. Abby is an AMAZING clinician and the reason we’re writing this review. It’s incredible to find a practitioner who recognizes and responds to the needs of your child, over Zoom at that! She has been wonderful with articulation but also provides exceptional support surrounding emotional regulation. She comes up with fun and really engaging ways to incorporate emotional awareness into sessions, something we did not know was possible. She is truly a rock star and we are so grateful to have her on our side! Thank you many times over.

“We were lucky enough to be referred to Victoria for help in the area of stuttering and a specific issue of something called cluttering. This specialty is not all that common and so we were extremely grateful to find her, as her expertise includes this area. We immediately felt comfortable with Victoria! She spent a lot of time discussing her experience and the issues we were seeing with our son in order to validate we were going down the right path. She then invited us for a formal and thorough evaluation and she was able to confidently diagnose through this extensive upfront interview and testing. Our son felt so very at ease with her; she was patient, kind, smart, positive and meticulous. She invested a good deal of time reviewing the report of her findings and came up with a solid and realistic treatment plan to address the issue. In person and virtual meetings have been very convenient and effective, and he really looks forward to his meetings with her. We have already seen improvement in terms not only around awareness of the issue but also perhaps more importantly, strategies he is starting to put into action. We are currently at a pivotal point with treatment, and we just couldn't be more appreciative of Victoria's work and grateful that we found her. Her professionalism and knowledge, her approach and her communicative and informative style makes her an incredible therapist. “
